The Delamar Academy Make-Up Artist
A successful make-up artist combines a wide range of skills with a huge number of different techniques. Many of those skills and techniques come as a result of experience and experimentation. But all successful make-up artists share one thing in common; a solid grounding in the basics.
In this section of the site, you'll find articles covering many of the basics that we teach at Delamar. This information is the result of many years of successfully training make-up artists. Many of the make-up artists that have passed through the classrooms at Delamar have become some of the most respected and sought-after make-up artists in their fields - whether that's film, TV, theatre, fashion, or beauty.
Obviously, information on its own is not enough to turn you into a make-up artist. When you train at Delamar, not only are you surrounded by other students with the same passion for make-up and a drive to succeed in a competitive industry, but also you will be taught by professional make-up artists who know the business. You'll also be in the heart of a historic film studio and have the opportunity to see productions in the making and even the chance to gain valuable experience on set.
Becoming The Complete Make-up Artist
There's more to make-up than technical skills, an eye for colour and shape, creative flair, and a choice of tools and materials. For one thing, you'll be spending a large amount of time as a professional make-up artist working with other people. Some will be the actors and models whose faces and hair you need to transform and some will be the other media professionals who will be working with you to make a success out of the play, film, or fashion show a success.
At Delamar, we give you a rounded training in all these aspects of becoming a professional make-up artist. You'll find information in the sections below that will give you a flavour of what's required when you set out on this exciting career. We'll be adding to the articles regularly, so if a section seems empty at the moment, please keep checking regularly for the next article. (We also announce new articles on our Facebook page and in our monthly newsletter, which you can sign up for at the foot of this page.)
