Movember!

Movember!

It’s that time of year again where winter is almost upon us! We’re getting out our hats, gloves, winter jackets and … moustaches! During this Movember we have 2 Facial Hair classes running. The weeklong course involves each student creating their very own moustache as well as trying out, goatees, eyebrows, beards, sideburns and even false eyelashes! The process is a delicate, precise and intricate one; you are literally sewing … Continue reading

The not so pretty side of make-up!

The not so pretty side of make-up!

Its important to sometimes remember that our make-up courses are not all about pretty faces and smokey eyes! This term the students have donned their overalls and have been trying their hands at Basic Prosthetics. During the first week the students study the method of bald cap making and application. The whole process can take some time and there are definitely quite a few lessons in patience along the way! … Continue reading

Work experience at the London Palladium

Work experience at the London Palladium

Our most commonly asked question is regarding work experience after the course; essentially is there enough work out there and will we provide anything. We never guarantee anything, but I don’t think we’ve ever not had any or had a graduate that we didn’t offer work experience to. Julie Wong (16-week, 2012) gave us the following report: “14 Delamar graduates and students helped out with hair and makeup in aid … Continue reading

Time to say goodbye…

Time to say goodbye…

The 1 Year and short course students all started in September, but that doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten the students who recently left Delamar. The 22 Week Advanced Complete Make-up Artist class which started in April this year will be left to venture out as fully qualified Hair and Make-up Artists. It was a pleasure having them and we will miss their presence very much. Below is a selection of highlights … Continue reading

How lipstick is made

How lipstick is made

This weekend Charles Fox will be hosting their annual Make-up Masterclass and Delamar will be attending. These events are great for networking and learning about the technology behind the make-up, demonstrated in Kryolan’s brand positioning “make-up is a science”. We will be there on our graduates’ behalf talking to make-up artists including award winners from the film, televisions, fashion and theater industry. We were previously invited to the factory in … Continue reading

Ouch…injured eyes!!

Ouch…injured eyes!!

Our students took part in an ‘eye bag’ workshop where they used eye bag moulds and melted gelatine in order to create their own swollen eye bags.  After the moulds had set the gelatine piece was attached to the eye and they used a variety of special effects to create cuts and bruises.  Some very realistic eye injuries were created, I can assure you that there were no actual ‘cat fights’, … Continue reading
